I use to like the standard but with my old eyes now it's scopes.

Scopes are nice but don't want to do any drilling and tapping

I like both, but only when the notch and front sight used on both offer good visibility. With most of the current interpretations of buckhorns I see, the notch is too skimpy and shallow and the bead size too small to be useable in low light. Almost worthless back in our dark woods. Have no issues with the design, just tat there aren't more options, available, for low light work. At least with standard open sights, you have more options.

On my 94, I use a semi buckhorn and a HiViz front sight.

Just curious, what model is your take down?

Buckhorn if you know to use it is a super sight . Personally I prefer a tang sight on lever gun it works great on old eyes if setup correctly . There is very few people with a 4X or 6X scope that can bet me with a TANG SIGHT is speed or accuracy .

Cool. But I'm 6'4" and most tang sights are to close for comfort.
I know I do a lot of whining

No, I don't have any pictures.

When I first looked at your picture, it looked like the barrel was laying off to the left of the receiver, instead of 2 rifles, so I was thinking take down.

Tang and peep sights are design to be shot 1 to 2 " from the eye . Sounds like your stock is too short. .
Might be to short, but I kind of like stocks that are a little to short for me.
They just feel more comfortable and natural to me
