I have about 20 plated bullets that I pulled that have the copper plating scraped down to the lead. I'm going to be casting some soon & was wondering: If I throw them in with some wheel weights will the copper rise to the top like the WW clips?

Also I would like heat treat/quench my bullets. I don't like the idea of having a bucket of water around while I'm casting. I've read a little about how to heat them in the oven & then quenching them. Any body know how well this works?

Yes on the copper plating, won't be much there but it will skim off the top.
The oven works if you have good heat control but I always used a coffee can 2/3rds full with water placed 90* to my right and at arms length. Not much can go wrong if you are using your head, and I prefer to quench immediately on casting. I did all casting outdoors. You are much more likely to get burned by splashing the hot lead when skimming or adding materials than by having the can of water nearby.
