Finally went yesterday. Took my SP and a Bearcat, shooting some paper, a rubber prairie dog, and some empty shotgun shells. Someone left a lot of those laying. I managed to keep everything in three inches at 20 yards, not too bad after a three month break. Averaged maybe 60% on the empty shells. I got most of them in two shots, anyway. Not a bad day, about 80 and just a few clouds. FWIW, I used 425 rounds of Federal Auto Match without a single issue.

I've found a photo, and a short YouTube of the Forest Service range I go to. Nine shooting tables. You can see the shadow of the sitting benches, and there is some parking right behind those.

A YouTube someone posted in 2009. The last couple of minutes show the shooting field, littered with rocks. Never had a problem with ricochet, though.

Hey, Bearcatter, congrats! I know it's been a long dry spell as far as shooting for you. Sounds like it didn't hurt your shooting, though. That's good work with the two little revolvers we both love.

Interesting that you mention Automatch. Designed for semi-autos, but we find that it shoots great in any of our revolvers, actually better than most bulk ammo and even some SV target stuff. No issues with reliability in revolvers, either. In our semi-autos, now and then we'll get a box of Automatch that gives us some jams. Interestingly, the only 22 I've owned that didn't shoot Automatch with at least reasonable accuracy was a 10/22 Target. It hated the stuff, but our other 10/22s and our Charger do just fine with it.

Hitting the empty hulls on the first shot better than half the time shows that most of my shooting was less than 3 inches, at least. I just got a little sloppy on my grip......:roll:

I'd like AM better if it was copper washed like American Eagle, or the Value Pack. I don't mind a little extra cleaning though. Seemed for a long time AM was all Federal made, but I recently got a couple of bricks of American Eagle HP.

Federal makes some great target ammo at a very reasonable price in their 711B SV Premium Target and also their Premium HV Target at $6 a box of 50 in our area. Shoots very close to their high dollar Premium Match stuff and the hyper priced Eley.

To me, "premium" ammo is Mini-Mags.........Besides that, I'm happy with American Eagle or the 510 Champion. The Value Pack is fine when I can get it. A bunch of those make 2/3 of my stash.

Auto Match is good, but at 1200 fps it's kinda between high and standard velocity. I sight in with HV, so I have to aim a touch high with AM.

Nice to have choices on 22 ammo, for sure. Hoping things don't go downhill, again, to the point of shooting anything we could get.

I've got two administrations worth of ammo stashed, but there are so many other issues at stake. The election is three days past my birthday. I'm hoping to get a decent present from the not so bright American voters. Trump was not my first choice, but he will do nicely over the alternative. Being in a socialist third world country does not interest me.
