Plows hit deep snow in Glacier
Posted: Friday, May 30, 2008 - 11:32:06 pm MDT

The Daily Inter Lake

Glacier National Park snow plows are closing the distance to Logan Pass, despite recent weather-related setbacks on Going-to-the-Sun Road.

The West Lakes Road Crew has advanced past the Big Bend and into the Triple Arches area, where snow depths up to 35 feet were encountered. Elsewhere along the way, snow depths were 7 to 8 feet on the west side of Logan Pass.

The Hudson Bay Road Crew, meanwhile, is working in the Siyeh Bend area, where snow on the east-side road has been as deep as 25 feet.

A road gate is still in place on the west side of Glacier at Avalanche Campground, but hikers and bikers can travel beyond the gate.

East of the pass, vehicles can travel as far as Jackson Glacier Overlook, and hikers and bikers can travel farther.

Elsewhere in the park, the Many Glacier Road, the Two Medicine Road, The Chief Mountain Road, and the Camas Road are all open.

The Cut Bank Road is closed at the park boundary and the Inside North Fork Road is closed between Logging Creek and Fish Creek.

I'm so happy every year to see the snow go...

But it is the only time when my lawn looks as good as my retired and slightly anal neihbors.

I love all the seasons which makes me good for Michigan.

John, there's so much more to life than a perfect lawn. How many of your neighbors are chicken farmers with not one egg? How many ride a beautiful motorcycle with a wonderful wife in the back seat? Do they all have vegetable gardens and wild asparagus? Do they fish and hunt? Are they on Gunnerforum? I hope you never have time for a perfect lawn and I hope you never lose your zest for living life well. You are loved for all of these reasons and more. YOU are a very rich man - wanna be liberal or not!

Only one compliment per year and this is IT!

It was in the 80s in Kentucky today. I think it's safe to say we won't be seeing any more snow here until the end of 2008 or early 2009 :p

Toss rock salt around the yard. Kills grass and makes the soil infertile. Permanently.

Keep it cut - green is green unless you're up close and he has no business on your property. I still think you should build that hunting blind on top of the chicken coup. That'll give him something to talk about.

He's not a bad "egg", he just is very particular about his own yard. He doens't care what mine looks like, it's just that his looks so good it makes mine look that much worse, and I take care of mine. But when you have two acres to cut, putting down weed and feed, and grub-ex, and rolling the yard to get rid of the mole paths gets a little pricey, so I just keep cutting the dan-d-lions as they grow.

He's not the one that would gripe if I got the rooseter, the neighbor that lets me hunt on his property is, so I try not to do to much to make him mad. :)
