I've officially had the license for 20 years and counting. It took them 2 weeks and a day from when I turned it into the local PD to get it back to me. When I get back to Texas in December I'm going to take the class and get my permit down there as well. NH is legal in 22 states and Texas will add another 10 beyond NH.

I would really like to see a National Carry Permit or National reciprocity bill that would standardize license regs accross all states and require states to recognize each others permit. If they didn't have a permit (like Obama's home state) then they should still be required to recognize out of state permits. That chance of that happening is now nil and doesn't look good going forward.

NH recognizes a lot of states, but only if you live in them...I was going to get a Fla . permit---then found out it wouldn't work in NH...or several others who have the same req......I wish they were uniform, too...but wouldn't want to give up some of what's unique to Tx......

Yea, Florida and Texas have the most relaxed in the country. Don't know about Texas, but we also have the Castle Doctrine, that does the following:

One: It establishes, in law, the presumption that a criminal who forcibly enters or intrudes into your home or occupied vehicle is there to cause death or great bodily harm, therefore a person may use any manner of force, including deadly force, against that person.

Two: It removes the "duty to retreat" if you are attacked in any place you have a right to be. You no longer have to turn your back on a criminal and try to run when attacked. Instead, you may stand your ground and fight back, meeting force with force, including deadly force, if you reasonably believe it is necessary to prevent death or great bodily harm to yourself or others. [This is an American right repeatedly recognized in Supreme Court gun cases.]

Three: It provides that persons using force authorized by law shall not be prosecuted for using such force.

Well those sound like great rules to me. I don't think anyone should have to run from an attacker. If someone attacks me it had better be fast and they'd better do it right. If not, I'm attacking back.

Please check your state laws!

Michigan has the "castle doctrine" too, but it does not inlude anything about not being able to be sued in a civil case, also, the "castle" does not include out buildings or garges, only your home. I think that is VERY different in every state.

That's why I like Florida....our law concerning CCW make more sense than most....but, Disney, Publix, Wal-Mart and the rest are trying to make it tougher on us....and they are losing.....for now.....

Yea, the news media portrayed it as a future blood-bath...gun battles in the street, mayhem....you know the whole deal....but the only place you might find that is in Miami. But then, I never have trusted the news media.....
