The nice young man in the big brown truck brought me 8 lbs of Unique and 5000 small pistol primers this morning....should see him again tomorrow morning for some ammo boxes and polish.....

The box has two stickers in plain view...one says "Smokeless gun powder", the other says "Primers caps". UPS guy knows I reload. He enjoys shooting rifles but not handguns.

Hasmat was $20.00......
Freight & Insurance was $14.13
Handling Charge $3.99

Total for 5000 primers and 8 lbs. Unique (including above charges), was $255.06.

I can't drive to the closest shop to me and back, that carries powder and primers, for that. The nearest shop that carries powder and primers is 65 miles away, and they want $159.99 for 8 lbs Unique....I paid $96.99 at Natchez.....

I agree, Sheepdog...shipping and hazmat fees are high, but when you're 65 miles away from the closest shop that carries powder, it's hard to justify not ordering...diesel fuel is now running $4.89/gallon. My truck gets 18mi/gal....that works out to about $40 round trip...not counting normal wear and tear. Better off to just order online, cause the initial price is far less expensive.....on 8 lbs of Unique, I can buy it online for about $63 less.....

I called a dealer about 4 miles from me last week and asked about ordering CCI or WIN small pistol primers....told them I wanted 5000....price was $34/thousand....I ordered them from Natchez for $23.99/thousand.....

I just picked up 1000 large pistol primers and they cost me just over $25! :|

They were $25.90. At the beginning of the year they were $22 I think. I guess it could be worse. :|
