Well my brother in law gave me a Hi Point .45 ACP today.

Of course I should not look a gift horse in the mouth, but any of you guy's fire one of these? I seen several shooting reviews etc, and all are good as far as functionalability.... BUT....

"It looks like it fell out of the ugly tree--and hit every branch on the way down!"

Now if it shoots this good at 15 yards I think I could live with this....

I've read several user comments on other forums, and it's like almost any other gun....some love them, some hate them.....truthfully, most don't really care for them. I've looked at a couple in our local shop, and you're right....they even make a Glock look pretty.....

They are ugly, but if it's a dependable gun in 45 acp you really can't go wrong. Put a few hundredd rounds thru it and see what you think. They are made here in the USA and warranteed for life to the original owner.

yep, they are ugly and plastic.........but suprisingly the ones i shot were reliable and accurate and the owners would rather fight than switch and they have a loyal following.

the little carbines are also good and we have a deputy that owns one as at the time he could not afford anything else--------no problems with qualification and reliability there............

Actually here is customer information from Hi Point web site:

All Hi-Point firearms carry a lifetime, no-questions asked warranty. Whether you are the original purchaser, or a third-hand owner, your Hi-Point firearm will be repaired free of charge.
Guess I didn't do to bad after all

Here is a pic I just took of it, which shows that it is slightly differant than a new HP .45 ACP

click on the pic to enlarge

As you can see the floor plate of the mag is differant, and the side panels are too.

my dad just bought the 9mm, it's ok. Had a few issues out of the box, but i think they'll line out with use.

I have never seen one or known anything substantial about them. Just the usual slander about them jamming, same as Jennings.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but I always figured the first time I saw one would be in a dark alley.

Well today, while out ground squirrels (they look like prairie dogs) shooting it got real slow... seem's those little critters are getting to know when I am there so we only got about 25 of them today

But, I decided to run a magazine thru the Hi-Point .45... even though it is just flat out FUGLY it shoots to POA and had no jams etc. I think I will name this gun Shermon like the tank which was flat out FUGLY and heavy too
