I had a Uberti with that grip and I didn't like it as well as my on my Rugers . so I sold it about 5 mos ago . There alot of birdshead out there that will trade you straight across for your plow handle , that's how I got this one . I have less then $450 in this gun total .

I found that style, Danny. I couldn't find anything like the Cimarron models. Losing the lock would be a good thing. I don't use it and it won't get in the way when I pull my gun apart. It may be easier and cheaper for me to just buy an original vaquero Birds head. They are getting expensive though. :|

I don't think you'll ever find a grip made by Ruger that looks like that. If you look at a Ruger's Bird's Head closely, you'll see there is quite a difference. I think the grip you're lookin' at is a Colt Lightning, or copy of it. I just sold two Montado's, must of the grip frames Ruger has made will fit them, but that Colt Lightning won't. Montado's in 357 have recently been available, but you can't buy them from Ruger. At the Shot Show in Vegas last year a Ruger rep said the only place I could buy a pair was from Davidson's. There was a pair of Sheriff's Models on Gun Broker that didn't sell about 3 weeks ago, the guy that owns them lists them everytime he thinks they might sell. One of my cowboy friends that lives a couple blocks away has become real adept at making Bird's Heads grips and Sheriff's model's. I'm very lucky I can call this guy a friend, he can do just about anything he wants when it comes to guns.
