A funny thing happend on the way to the forum today..... .....my MIL wanted me to rid her oak trees of some very stubbern tree rats, so I grabbed my 500c, unloaded the buckshot and loaded up some 2 3/4 #8's, and proceded to lay out destruction, as best I could.....the funny thing is, this 500c just doesn't kick as bad as I remember it....therefore, the SpecOps stock is no longer on the list....to tell you the truth, I rather like the way it shoots.....guess I was just young and tender back then.....

if the last time you shot it was in way younger days, you might have grown into it and it fits you a bit better now.........

20 ga shouldn't kick much at all. Heck, a 12 with light loads aint bad. I usually don't start to notice until you get up to about #4 shot, and then you kind of realize you got something there!
Try an 870 Supermag with 3 1/2" #2 steel. I use that for ducks and really don't notice them until I'm done hunting. You wake up the next morning and realize how much fun you had. It does flatten the ducks though.

How many pounds of shot per shell, Terry_P????
The factories are 1 9/16 oz and most 3 1/2" steel I have loaded are 1 1/2 oz (If memory serves me right they are something obscene like 4 3/4 dram). Steel isn't as dense as lead and lose energy fast so I use #2's on ducks and BBB on geese. I've got some nice 2 oz lead loads I use for turkey. I used them this year for the 1st time and they just flattened the tom I got. When I patterned them at 25 yards. I shot one and it was just slightly left of center so being a glutton for fun with just a t-shirt on I shot another and it was similar so I got the handguns out.
