We went out garge saleing today...

We went to a small sale of the main highway, and as I looked at a few of the hunting things sitting around the guy sitting there said...hey I got a .270 I'm looking to get rid of.

If you want to perk up my intrests that's how you do it.

I asked him what it was...he said, I don't know some gun my dad gave me that he took in on trade awhile back. Now, he really had my intrest.

He pulled out a Howa 1500 Hunter in .270 that looks like it might never have been fired. He said I'll take $250 for it. At this point I'm trying not to stutter or twitch. I said well, let me talk to the Mrs. and get back to you. We went down the road aways, and I explained what the gun is, and that they sell for about $400 used. Her response was, ok, but see if you can talk him down some. Long story short, I tried to talk him down and it was a no go...but he threw in a box shells. Good enough!

I have to clean it up as it's a little dusty, but it came with a nice sling, scope mounts, and a somewhat crappy tasco scope and box of Rem core-loc shells all for $250...

The gun gods, and the wife have been kind to me latley.

Added: All cleaned up, she has been shot, but I bet it hasn't been more than a single box of shells. In the last pic, you can see the kinda see a smear of the RIG grease I use. :)

The tasco scope was in pretty bad shape, so I stuck a cheap bushnell on it for now. This baby is going to need a little better glass I think. Wouldn't make any sense to put a piece of crap scope on a nice rifle would it?

Noone...noone amongst this plethora of seemingly astute gentlemen, thought to ask the one definitive question that should have sprung to mind....

Does your wife have any unmarried sisters???????????????? Or is she simply a wonderful of a kind????

Natalie we have been married 3 years, and have been together for 5...things go pretty easy for us. :) I also took her clothes shopping on Thursday last week...she wanted some new fall things. But what makes her really nice is the fact that I got that Model 18 just 2 weeks ago.

Gunman...there is no mark on the topside of the rings, but I'm pretty sure Redfield makes them. Sometime I'll pull the mounts off, it should be on the bottom side.

Thanks for the kind words guys...I can't wait to get her down to the range and see what type of group she throws.

John, if I remember correctly, Howa was the manufacturer for the Smith and Wesson rifles. Ya did good and .270 is an excellent all round caliber. Wish I had one.

She truly loves you John plus she's a smart woman. If she sees that you are a happy man then she knows that she will be happy too and vice versa. Keep it up - you two are on the best path. It's not the most well traveled path but it is the best one.
