Hey gents- I was doing some research on a new hunting rifle and found an article that said the number one grab was the new Sako S20. Not sure if $1600 is worth it or if anyone has heard good things? Any suggestions on a new setup would be aprecited thanks in advance.

I was looking at a used Sako Tikka several years ago and it was a fine rifle. The bolt action was smooth like butter, can't speak to how it shot. The retailer was real proud of it and refused to budge at all on the price. I walked away, probably a bit out of an ego thing because the fit and finish were excellent and I wanted it just not that much.

I once owned a Sako Deluxe in 30-06. It was a fine shooter, but the bluing and wood finish was so beautiful I hesitated to take it to the woods, so I sold it. Sako makes a fine gun.

It mostly depends on the area you're going to hunt, what you're going to hunt and the distance you're going to shoot.
I love 30-30 for white tail and because I love the gun and we never get huge distance shots because of the trees and brush. As far as a great all round gun, a 30-06 bolt action is outstanding as is a 243. But between those two, the 30-06. If you reload, you have a lot of options. If you like factory, 30-06 you can find. When you pick hunting rifle, remember weight is a big thing because you're going to be toteing it in an toteing it and your game back to the camp or the vehicle.
Just my opinion
