In 38 Spl it doesn't excite me. You could probably pick up a decent Security Six in 357 mag for a hundred less if you shop around. It won't be NIB but it would be more powerful and I don't like a lanyard rings.

According to this jerk, Cabela's is a good reference for pricing guns.

In my circle, we refer to this as the "Sportsman's Warehouse gun buyer."

if the buy it now is 999, what do you think the reserve was, like 900?? I don't know how people set up auctions. But I bet the reserve isn't too far off from the buy it now price.

Sometimes someone will have a terd and polish the hell out of it. Then they'll try to sell that terd as something other than the POS that it is. This seems to be such a case. Except he didn't polish it up real good.

To be perfectly honest, I've been looking at firearms auction sites for a year, now, and I've never seen anything that I would bid on. The prices, imnsho, are high, and frankly, I just don't get that warm fuzzy trust feeling.....

Yeah, BH, crooked and lazy run together often.......I wouldn't buy a gun online...just too hard to get to spend it and find out someone's been tinkerin' 'round with the innards...

Auction ended with $350 not meeting the reserve price. If I were him I would have been happy as a clam to get $350 for it. Jeeze I have a Security Six 357 mag in at least 85% with a 2 1/2" bbl so that must be worth like $500 right? What an idiot.

I would not buy a used gun online, but the local FFL I use goes through Gallery of Guns (or whatever they changed their name to). It winds up being a pretty good deal, and since gun shops are rare here in "Guns are evil" land, it is a good way to get what you want and still have the local guy be a part of it.

Edit: wow, I just now realized how old this thread was when I posted this, talk about a day late and a dollar short!

Yeah, Davidson's(Gallery of Guns) is all new guns to my knowledge...different from buying anything used from an individual...I've bought several for/from/through the pawn shop I worked at through them...fast...neat...and a lifetime warranty on any gun bought from them...replacement no haggle...

It wasn't mine. I don't like the gunbroker idea. I have got a couple things from ebay, but buying a firearm from a private seller I don't know, and shipping it through two different FFL holders is a bit too convoluted for me. Now I forget if he got a 270 or 243. One of those though. He got it straightened out eventually.

As much paperwork as we go through, shipping the wrong caliber is kinda indicative of the smarts of the shipper...they only had to write it down 2-3 times...and it's right on the barrel....I'd have returned it and shopped elsewhere...Davidson's is not that cheap even at wholesale, but they're sharp and quick....if I can't get my local gunshop to get it for me...they'd be next choice...I want to put in a plug for buying from our local smallguy gunshop...if he's honest and fair, I'll give him first money and a little more than someplace else...if we don't support them, and all buy at Wally World or Academy....he'll be gone...then when they change their policy and drop guns....where will we be???? Oshman's(now Sports Authority) and WallyWorld have both surprised us...who's next???
