This afternoon, I finally had a chance to try out my 22A in competition....we hot a steel plate match today. I am very please with the way this gun handles....the 39 oz weight is not really noticed, except that this gun is very accurate. It points naturally, and feeds the Federal bulk pack ammo like it was made for it. The trigger is about the smoothest factory trigger I've ever shot....the action is also very smooth.
This gun throws brass...in our match, we have two shooters that are about 15 - 18 ft apart....each shooer has 5 small steel plates at 7 yds, 5 larger steel plates at 25yds, and a stop plate at 15 yds. You can shoot whatever order you wish, but the stop plate must be the last target knocked down. When I was shooting from the left position, the other shooter was catching my brass "up side the head", down the shirt, and so forth....they finally asked me to shoot from the right station....another shooter also has a 22A, but he is left handed, so the angle of trajectory for the extracted brass is different.....
Having shot the 22/45 and the 22A in competition, I prefer the 22A. I am very glad I picked up this S&W....it's a keeper.....
