I saved the Kahr for last, because you guys had me scared about the recoil!

So I carefully loaded one round into the extended mag and chambered it. Again from 7 yards, I squeezed the trigger and, uh, yeah it's a pretty big bang. Trigger feels great, by the way, very smooth. But I didn't break anything or drop the gun, so I shot a full extended mag and then tried the short mag.

Much like the LCP, it seems a big part of the comfort behind shooting this gun is finding enough real estate to put your hands on the gun. I'll be honest, when I loaded the short mag, at first I felt like it was going to be a lot worse. And it was, until I stopped trying to squeeze one too many fingers onto the front of the grip. Once I abandoned that idea it was actually easier to shoot.

But then I got a really wacky idea. I wondered if maybe this gun would be easier to shoot one handed! So with the short mag in, I took aim and, I'm not kidding, my very first shot with one hand is that one on the left target, dead in the middle of the bullseye.

I looked around to see if maybe someone else had witnessed it, but alas, only me. So I changed targets, put it out at five yards, and shot the rest of these - about half with one hand and half with two. As you can see, even though it's two yards closer, I definitely started to settle in a bit.

One problem: The extended mag somewhere along the way, something inside of it broke. I can hear it rattling in there but haven't had time to open it up and look yet. I ran into my neighbor on my way in, the guy who sold it to me, and told him about it. He said he'd buy me a new magazine.

But other than that, this thing packs a helluva punch but I can handle it. I wouldn't call it recreational, exactly, but BH, I'll tell you this: I would rather shoot this gun than .357 out of my GP100.

The Kahr is a great gun without a doubt. The 40 caliber round is a great SD round, but imo not really needed. If you don't have a 45 and don't plan on buying one why not own the 40, right? It'll get expensive real quick shooting it a lot. You may want to look into reloading. It looks like a real good shooter. Let us know what the mags problem is when you get it apart.

The GP100 with some nice home rolled 125 grain HPs will get your attention, but Jen shoots 'em just fine. ;)

You know, I can't imagine shooting this enough to get costly with ammo. I'm just going to ponder carrying it. Maybe take my time and look at some holster options. The LCP will do in the meantime, and will be a nice way for me to get used to carrying every day. Maybe a couple months of that and I'll feel like I can - depending on what I'm wearing - sneak that PM40 around.

I've debated a Kahr for years...I like the steel framed ones...but I think I'd either go the .45 or the 9mm....the polymer frame 9s left me feeling for enough grip...big paws....I'm not surprised you can shoot it well one-handed...that's the way some of us old dogs shoot best....when it's coooold, and you have a heavy jacket or coat...now there's a gun to have your hand wrapped around deep in a pocket...or in an inside coat pocket closed with a piece of velcro...or safety pin....to rip out in a hurry...it oughta hide as well as a J-frame...a bit more punch...a couple more rounds, and a quick reload....Kahr should replace that mag...email 'em....

I'm laughing to myself thinking about shooting that with really, really cold hands, and then pretending it didn't hurt. :?

I will email Kahr or call them tomorrow for sure, thanks.

Does it have the real slim grip like the tiny ones? Can't get used to the half-a-gun feeling in my hand...not the weight but the thinness bothers me....gotta have somethin' to hang onto...that super-thin polymer grip's kinda like sex with a broom....

It may be the steel framed models are that thin, too, and the weight just makes them more comfy to me...I'll have to compare, cause my P90 and my P97 both feel good to me...though I added Hogues to my P90 and got a fatter grip....thanks to Pops1(who I miss, by the way)....
