if ya ever think ya might want one----ever----get it........as they are only goin' to go up in price.

from what i understand, a slow seller and has been discontinued this year accordin' to the ruger web-site. They have already dropped the 22 LR version a cpl of years back as well which leaves just the .22 mag and 17 HMR in the lever lineup........

The main gripe about the gun that i've heard is the 4 rd mag capacity and concern about keepin over all cartridge length for the rounds to function due to the rotary mag---more traditional levers are a bit more flexable and have higher capacity..................

Yep, the Ruger 96/44M does have the OAL problem.

This rifle was pretty much developed for a deer hunting type of rifle, but certain bullets can be used depending on the crimp groove. Ruger SBH has this same problem.... which I find not to be a problem at all

Now if you want a higher round count, just carry extra rotery magazines on your belt.

Personally I want one of these, but Ruger has so kindly discontinued these from production, so I may have to look at a Marlin 1894 that holds 10 rounds in the tube.
