I was just watching Guns and Ammo TV, and even though it is not on Smith and Wesson's web site yet, they are reporting that the S&W 1917 in .45 acp is being brought back out for sale. One will have to use moon clips, but at least the .45 acp revolver is making a come back.

I saw that in the mags as well and the grips on the 1917 look like like they are too short. I doubt if the soldiers that carried it in WWl felt at a disadvantage with a revolver. I wish Ruger would come out with a GP in 44 special and/or 45 ACP. That would be the ideal "house gun".

I almost bought a short barrel model of that, SgtKnuckles...but I loaded up a clip and dropped it on the floor...lost 3 shells and bent the clip...they're too weak to survive in a pocket and stay loaded....I'm waiting to get one that'll hold the heavier steel clips that you load with a tool....and haven't found those in 5-shot yet....

SheepDog,... What makes Taurus Moon Clips Special, is that you can ajust them by tweeking (tighten) them between the slots with a blade screw driver... Other companys Moon Clips are non adjustable (no-slots)(you are screwed)... The ones that fell out of the Clip you dropped just needed a little tweeking (adjusting)...<:))

Nope...they're too flimsy...to stand the twist and stress of pocket carry...it wasn't the "untweaked" condition...it was the weak condition...tweak all you want...hold one loaded at shoulder height and drop it on the linoleum floor....you'll lose one or two....the old steel ones, you could throw them across a parking lot and they'd stay together....customer service's answer "Carry them in a pouch".....when I suggested a stronger clip would be an improvement....the one I tried in the store was dropped on a rubberized tile floor....and two of the fingers bent when it hit....
