the smith 22a is about the easiest 22 semi i have ever taken apart. and i really like the location of the mag release and the easy off/on barrel feature as well as the built in scope rail----but it just never seemed to quite fit my hand..............

use to be able to order xtra barrels for them in different lengths for around $80. About the only part that ever wore-out was a plastic spacer/shim on the back end----around .50 cents apiece.

One of the guys I shoot competition with, shoots a 22a. A couple of weeks ago, he let me shoot a couple of practice stages with it....I hate to say it, but I shot his better than my 22/45....he then showed me how to disassemble and reassemble it.....that sold me.....His did not have the bull barrel....I do hope I like it....the only down side I can see is that it does not have fiber front sight....will have to check into that.....
