I took this from Rugerforum.com as the reloader set up his equipment and didn't measure his first few charges (duh) which resulted in a overcharge charge of 14.2 gr of HS-6. He wasn't hurt as the SP held up enough to not involve his hand. Pressure was estimated at 81k to 83k PSI.

He should thank God he HAS a hand...and give up reloading before he ruins another fine gun....when you begin reloading, the key words are " double-check again and again"

The last photo shows two big scores on the inside of the top strap where the cylinder blew apart. If the top strap hadn't held together a piece of the cylinder may have ricocheted back at him. He is lucky.

Seriously though, He's a "VERY LUCKY" man, to have chosen the SP101 !
Can You imagine if that had been a similar style S&W or TAURUS ??!

He said in his post he had contacted Ruger and filled out a form. He said he was honest so didn't expect they would do anything. I thought it was pretty funny that he made that statement as if you'd need to be a real genius to figure out what happened.

Shows how good this weapon is!!!

If that ain't proof I don't what would be. :D
I agree. A lesser gun wouldn't have protected the flesh wrapped around his tiny brain as well.

What is the pressure supposed to be, for comparison purposes??
