I'm thinking about putting one on my 10/22. Are they legal? Do I need a permit or anything?

Any noise reducing device like a suppressor or silencer should be run by ATF-technically, even the old baby bottle nipple over a .22 rifle barrel is a silencer....it can get real hairy and felony charges are involved...I don't know the details but you should be able to find a Class III license holder online who can advise you.....

you got to fill out some forms with batf and i think there is a $200 stamp that you have to buy as well-----not to mention checkin' with your State regs----------If in doubt, call your area batf inspector and they can probably quote chapter and verse what is required. the batf home page on line reads like stereo instructions and dang confusin' in findin' anythin'.

One more way for the government to make money off me. The supressors are about $250 anyway. That's a lot of $$!!
