Well I got two differant batches of bullets today both Keith SWC design

250-gr SWC and 290-gr SWC

250-gr SWC .430 dia - Already have reloading data using Unique powder

So I am going to need load data for the 290-gr SWC .431 dia, and would hope that I can use Unique powder. I am looking for around 1000 to 1200 fps

That fps is prolly a bit warm for Unique powder and that bullet wt, but even between 800 and 1000 would be nice. But I may have to find a differant powder for it.

Try some Accurate #5:

Lee Manual

280gr lead bullet start: 10.6 @ 1046 fps...max: 11.8 @ 1151 fps 36500 cup. min OAL 1.695

300gr lead bullet start: 10.4 @ 1003 fps...max: 11.6 @ 1138 fps 32300 cup. min OAL 1.720

That's as close as I can find to 290gr.....

Good Luck my friend! I checked every manual I have & Loaddata.com & could not find that bullet anywhere. My advice would be to use 300gr. bullet data, there's tons of that available. I would also use H110, W296 or IMR4227. Also .431dia. sounds a bit large to me. This is just my opinion & you know how they are (purchase price is refundable). :p

I found this article that lists 290gr. bullet with Unique:
http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m ... i_79586225
That's funny because I read that artical today and over looked:

and 10.0 grains of Unique for 1,100 to 1,150 fps.
And on page 3 which I didn't look at:

BULLET MV-8" MV-10" MV-16 1/2"

BRP 290 GC

9.0 GR. UNIQUE 1058 1122 1240
10.0 GR. UNIQUE 1109 1173 1279
21.0 GR. H4227 1200 1301 1474
18.5 GR. AA#9 1274 1345 1478
19.5 GR. LIL' GUN 1232 1326 1527
18.5 GR. #2400 1289 1367 1560
21.5 GR. H110 1306 1372 1563
21.5 GR. WW296 1313 1383 1576
I figure to start off at 8.0 and work it up from there and may settle on 10.0 gr

Thanks

I also have a problem reading all the way to the end (short attention span I guess)
Sounds like a good plan Bro. Post results when you settle on a load!

I worked with two differant loads for the Keith 290-gr SWC

13.5 gr 2400, Fed 155 MPP, which I figure was a great starting point. Loaded 20 and they shot very nicely.

15.5 gr 2400, Fed 155 MPP, now this one I felt a bit more of and was very nice as well.

For the wt of the bullet, momentum for penetration showed real pomise as a real penetrating bullet as well as being very accurate as well.
