Just loaded my first 30 rounds on the Lee Turret....works good.

I loaded up test loads as follows:

125gr LRN HP-38 4.4gr 10ea
125gr LRN HP-38 4.6gr 10ea
125gr LRN HP-38 4.8gr 10ea

All were set for a C.O.L. of 1.125" (I love my new RCBS digital display calipers).....

I will shoot them off of a benchrest tomorrow, to check for slide action, accuracy and pressure signs....shouldn't be any extreme pressures, as 4.4 is min and 4.8 is max according to Hodgdon's web site...... :ugeek:

I used HP-38, and I'll either be shooting it from my Kahr CW9, or a Taurus 9mm that my bil has. Probably the Taurus because of the longer barrel. Really wish I had a P226 or P229 to shoot it from...oh well, later this year.....

I shot the test loads today, from a Taurus PT908. At 10 yds, results were:

4.4 gr 3" high 2" right 2 1/2" group
4.6 gr 2" high 2" right 2 1/2" group
4.8 gr 1" high 2" right 1 1/2" group

I fired 20 fmj through the gun prior to shoot the test loads, just to warm it up, some.

Will ge using the 4.8 gr pushing the 125 gr LRN from MBC.

HP-38 still smokes..... :lol:

i'd try them out a bit further distance to just confirm.

Deputy, I checked the barrel after shooting, and leading wasn't a problem....I didn't think to check between each charge....but after those 30 rounds, the barrel was still clean.

I got them from Missouri Bullet Company. Last Friday, they shipped me 750 .38 sp. 158gr LSWC. Prices are reasonable, and I usually get them in 2 - 3 weeks.....
