I don't like them because they look mean although pretty vs. black still shoots dead. Reminds me of terrorists. Still, if trouble brewed and I needed to protect myself I'd welcome the ownership!! Those are definately working machines.

You know, Natalie, I am not getting on you here, but that is kind of the same argument the anti-gunners use. Take the shotgun for instance. You seen the before and after picture of it on another thread. It is the exact same gun, it just looks meaner now. Doesn't make it so. Same with the little 10/22. Same gun, just a different stock. And most AR15s shoot varmint rounds! They are nowhere near as deadly as my hunting rifle in 30/06, or my wife's .308.

That's right, Tim....and not a bit on Natalie....some of the old thinking remains, that's all....I'm as happy to know Tim has an AR as if he had a 30-30....same with JB, Deputy125, etc....it ain't the gun that's bad---it's the man....you want an uncomfortable feeling....try imagining Obama with a single shot .22..........

Heck, my wife used to work in a police department, she thought that AR's were fully automatic. Nobody ever told her different, and that's what the media makes them out to be.

That's the battle were fighting here...stopping the lies, and spreading the truth.

Because the media never takes the time to understand and explain the difference between 'rifle' and 'assault rifle.' Even my New York Kennedy Democrat cop cousin admits that. And he says things like 'there are some guns civilians shouldn't own' and 'why would you need that?' But every time there is a gun crime on the news, they show an AR or AK. Which is why I plan on perpetrating all my crimes with a bolt gun and a single action. See if they blame the gun THEN!!

But I let him handle my AR one time, and he went all nuts for it.

Funny how "they" want to keep us down and yet "they" are armed to the teeth with the good stuff...tells us who they're all about!!!! Much as I love the police...WHEN it really hits the fan...we'll be protecting them more often than they'll be protecting us....and little do they know how many of us have their backs, day by day, in the streets of America....whether they'd thank us or not.....I knew two times an armed citizen saved one of my brother officers' lives....and that was back then...

Hey guys, I didn't mean to ruffle anyone's feathers. I'm a girl who is not a tom-boy and who knows very little about guns. I just would pick a gun that was beautiful to my eyes over one with an intimidating appearance. That's all I meant to say and obviously did a poor job of saying it. I am one of those people who does not know the difference between a rifle and an assault rifle. I try to learn on here but you guys talk in code which is natural, but makes it hard for an ignoramus to learn. If I asked about everything I do not comprehend we'd be constantly having a game of 20 Questions. This winter Richard can teach me. Right now he's working long hours and is very tired most of the time. I am really better off staying in friendly places such as the Lounge, Kitchen, Jokes etc. I'm very sorry if I upset you guys and no, you don't have to watch what you say to me - I am NOT and will not be offended. I just don't wish to offend any of you. So, are we all okay? :D

I don't think you "offended" any of us. It is just that the media likes to use the same term that you did, and it is somewhat of a sore spot with many of us. Like I said, you can look at the before and after pic of my shotgun. It is the same gun, it just looks more wicked now. Same with the 10/22. A true "assault weapon" is capable of full automatic fire. None of my guns are assault weapons. (Not that I wouldn't like a couple!!!!!)

Thanks gunman for letting me know I didn't step on toes and also for explaining what an assault weapon is.

Since 1911 I haven't looked at box cutters any differently that I did before. Anything in the hands of the wrong person can be used as an assult weapon. Baking powder and flower, sure can make a nice bomb with them. Washing powders and bleech wow what a fire I can start with those.
With just a very little training anyone can go to the local grocery store and within a few minutes have enough of harmless looking items to really do some damage.
Its the people who are the threat with their wrong minded ways and thinking.
There are so many ways to do harm to someone a gun isn't really needed if you have the right training.
