need a little help, have a savage bolt rifle in 223 will acept factory but not my reloads. I have a check gauage and the rounds fit in there ok but not in the rifle. I am using small base dies RCBS, and yes I am triming themas well. Using the Lee system to trim the cases. I am wondering it there is a super small base dies that I need to get/ Any help will be great appreiated.

wish i could help but i'm a lee loader man when it comes to rifle rounds.....
off the top of my head, i would go the opposite route and when it comes to reloading for that particular rifle.
reload only the fired factory rounds that you have put thru that one rife..........then neck size only on those reloads and skip full length sizing all-together.
of course that might not help if you already have a bucket load of once fired 223 brass from other rifles.

They work in my tc and handi rifle so all is good. I can use factory in the ar and bolt gun. But thanks for the help. I am good with what I have loaded now. Sorta like the tighter chambers on the ar and bolt gun now that I think of it. Besides I can get just about all the 223 ammo I need cheaper than i can load it. i have a source so to speak, well i do now lol.
The shoulder could be too long ...... My 44-40 I had to grind .010 off the base of my full length die to make them fit all my Vaquero's . The other thing could be neck thickness or heavy crimp . Take 2 fired case and try them in gun , then full length size them , one with the decapper removed , then try them in gun again . Let me know what happen before we go to step 2 .
The same case length is very important to set all the crimps and tension the same and need to be trimmed to the same length . The length is not really that important but being the same is .
.223 Remington brass is trimmed to 1.750"
If it's Lake City brass, it will probably have crimped primers & you will have to remove the crimp with a reamer before you can reprime it.

sorry I made a mess on my first post. I have some range brass that measure between 1.741 to 1.746. this brass seems to be fired 1 time shows no signs of having been trimmed. my manuals show to trim .223 to 1.750. is this stuff safe to use? are there maufacturs that have cases that are shorter then others. head stamps are fc and lc. this is the second time I have found brass lie this tossed out the first.
Did you read my post above? If not fired from your rifle, I would full length resize it & you need to check that it has crimped primers, because the primer pockets will have to be reamed. Use your shortest piece of brass to set your crimp die up.
